Michigan's new VRCC site !!

Just wanted to touch base here - the Michigan Valkyrie Riders Cruiser Club has a new website, link is below. It already has some great new stuff, but it is being worked on as well - so it keeps getting better. Check in often.

Middle part of February, we have our annual "Winter Gathering" - gives us a chance to get together once again, with all our riding friends. Lots to eat, lots of great laughs, start building up next years riding schedule - there is ALREADY TONS OF THINGS in the works.

yee haw - sun is out RIGHT NOW, but here in Michigan - it goes just as fast, this time of year.

Picture - just bringing back memories from the Lumberman's Ride

and now from the Copper Harbor Ride - this was great !!!!

A few asked a couple questions about the 29th, so I thought I had better post this again. All the way to the end of this string, Rtaz posted my original post. On there is a link to the Metro Cruise itself - and what you can see and expect from that.

Also, the is a Google map link to the hotel in Grandville, so you can find us. Registration will be from 1pm till 2pm (in the hotel's breakfast lobby) - and we will take off as soon as we can from then.

We have about a 100 mile ride planned, with (4) stops along the way for drawing cards (is your poker hand showing some promise??? - you will have the option of buying a couple extra cards for $5 each - may give you the winning hand ??), as well as stretching, snacks, restrooms, gas, etc. Should be pretty scenic, several lakes we'll be passing or stopping at. Have several nice roads with some sweepers, hills and trees.

Poker Ride itself will have a BEST HAND winner and a WORST HAND winner - these $$ amounts will be determined by how many show up for the ride. I have had a couple more commit to coming, and several more are fairly close to coming - so we'll see.Our local dealer sponsor - Shawmut Hills Sales - are donating a few items for us to raffle off, plus I believe that I have a few others as well. We'll be doing a 50/50 drawing too, so you see, there are HUNDREDS of ways to win (OK, there are a couple - but who's counting anyway).

We have a side room set up for us from 5:30pm till 7pm. This will be for the dinner, awards and prizes, and just plain fun. Expect a few surprizes here. Then after that, feel free to roam just outside - to look and see MANY hot rods & trucks, etc.About 8pm, we'll try to get as many as want to join us, for a VALKYRIE RIDE down the center of 28th Street, with thousands looking on, then we'll drive back to Ground Zero hotel, I'll get you all back safely. Will we hang out for awhile ?? Certainly can.

Car Show in Copper Harbor

During our ride to Copper Harbor, we encountered a car show. This seemed kinda weird, looked like the whole town only had about 15 people in it - then on Saturday, 1pm, the whole central park was filled up. Cars from all over the place showed up, live music, food booths - folks all over the place. I don't know where they all came from ??? Here is a sampling on 'some' of the cars there. Pretty cool though.

We will be meeting up and starting from the Comfort Suites Inn, start to register at 1:30 pm - address and Goggle Map link are below.I thought that it would be nice to START from the hotel, this way, any of you who are planning to stay overnight, can just arrive a tad bit early, check in, bring your bags to the room, use the facilities & freshen up - then be RIGHT THERE FOR THE START !!!As an additional thought (crap - that hurt ) "MAYBE" some of you would like to make more of a week-end out of this. Below is a link to the Metro Cruise site - look it over, they have tons of stuff going on. This cruise starts Friday night and all day Saturday till 9 pm. Come early in the morning, or even Friday night. There will be literally a few thousand 'Hot Rods' 'Custom Trucks' 'Classic Cars' 'and Custom cars that the world has never seen' --- OK, maybe I stretched that last bit

This is a very well run event, with a couple hundred thousand folks participating up & down the 15 mile stretch. Lots to see, lots to eat.Just be sure to be back to the hotel by 1:30 pm, take off at 2 pm. We will have about a 3 hour ride (couple breaks in there), will be nice & leisurely, as always on my rides - we will pass or stop at several lakes & rivers (water is just so gorgeous on a bike). This is a poker ride, so we will be drawing cards along the way, for CASH PRIZES. Will also have 50/50 drawings for cash. Stay tuned for more INFO - I am checking into a couple ideas I have. Wanting to tie in an included FULL BUFFET and possibly a CUSTOM T-shirt - we'll see what I come up with !!

Bottom line is - I NEED YOU FOLKS TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN - start to plan on this, it is going to be good !!

We're planning on the 4th annual GRAND RAPIDS ROAD RYDERS POKER RIDE / METRO CRUISEso put this date on your calendar August 29th, 2009 we'll be rallying up at 2 pm, which will give all of you time to ride in from wherever. We'll have a couple hour Poker Ride - very scenic & several stops along the way. Then we will be hitting the Metro Cruise, many - many food vendors for supper ... hundreds & hundreds of classic cars and hot rods. Then about 9 pm, we'll do our own light parade "Valkyrie Style"More Info will follow, just put this date on your calendars NOW. Would suggest booking a room (for any distance riders) for Saturday night.

Shoot, I'd love to invite ya'll for Sunday morning church (starts at 10 am), we have a very vibrant service, great music, lots of cool folks, coffee & donuts afterwards. If I have a few who would like to join us, I'll make sure we make note of this - try to 'groom' our service for a room full of leather-clad bikers. That would be so cool - our church is a little different anyway, this fits well

Dennis & Joan can come, just can't buy raffle tickets !!
